Theater Technique Classes have been created to help build each student's core theatrical skills by giving them the opportunity to concentrate on the educational aspect of theater. The curriculum in each class has been designed to shape and enhance the specific skills the students will need for upcoming productions at SCA.


Theater Building Blocks

Grades 4 - 5

Tuesdays & Thursdays
6:00-6:30 pm
Students will focus on developing their acting and vocal abilities in this new and improved class. Children will work with Instructors Allison St. John and Kathy Johnson on alternating days in order to build a foundation for all of the theatrical and musical skills used by performers in musical theater.

Character Development

Grades 6 - 8

7:15-8:15 pm
Students will focus on character analysis by exploring a variety of different acting methods and improvisational techniques. Students will build upon their theatrical skills and fine-tune their abilities as actors.

Musical Theater Techniques

Grades 6 - 8

7:15-8:15 pm
Students will build their musical theater muscles by focusing on how to prepare and best utilize their bodies and voices to create bold characters. In addition to studying basic movement and vocal technique, these young performers will also discuss the different types of musical theater genres and the proper way to present themselves at musical theater auditions and rehearsals.
