This project will consist of reconstructing approximately 2.5 miles of Bainbridge Road from SOM Center Road to the Eastern Corporation Line. The work will include new flexible pavement with a concrete curb and gutter. 5’ wide bike lanes are included adjacent to the roadway and will be constructed with the same pavement material on the proposed pavement. New sidewalks will be constructed for the entire length of this project and on both sides of the road.

The project will include the replacement of the existing storm sewers with a new closed sewer drainage system. The existing culverts will be replaced.

Some sections of water lines will be replaced. Areas where the profile will be revised will require lowering or replacement. Fire hydrants will be replaced. Fire hydrant service connections shall be replaced to remove all lead connections.

The intersection of Bainbridge Road and Liberty will have a traffic signal. Liberty Road will be widened to include left turn lanes .

This project will include installation of new sanitary sewer near the easterly corporation line and replacement of some existing sections.

TRAFFIC MAINTENANCE

Bainbridge Road will maintain two way traffic during the duration of construction, eastbound and westbound respectively.

The phasing of construction will begin by adding temporary pavement on the south side of Bainbridge Road. Driveway access will be maintained at all times during this phase.

Once the temporary pavement is in place, eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained on the south side of Bainbridge Road. Construction on the north half of Bainbridge will begin. A temporary signal will be included to provide one lane-two way traffic east of Windy Hill Lane and west of Dorsett Lane in the area of where the profile of the road is to be raised. Temporary sheeting will be in place and the traffic lane will be protected by temporary concrete barrier.

The next phase of construction will be to construct the south side of Bainbridge Road while maintaining two lanes of traffic on the newly constructed north side of Bainbridge Road.

Currently the phasing of construction is designed to complete the entire length of one half of the road and then complete the other half. The construction phasing can be revised to complete the SOM Center to Liberty Road section in the first year, using part-width construction as described above and then completing the eastern section of the project using part-width construction.

There will be time when individual driveways will be blocked. We anticipate that these time periods will be short in duration and that driveway access will resume as soon as possible. Neighbors are also encouraged to work together to share driveways whenever necessary. The City of Solon Engineering Department and the County Engineer’s Office will be happy to assist residents if possible.

Safety is a top priority for all involved in this project. The County Engineer’s Construction Department will inform the police and fire departments of the construction activities.
