Carol McConoughey, Secretary to the Planning Commission
About the Planning Commission
The members of the Planning Commission may convene as 1 of 3 boards with distinct powers and duties. These include the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Building Code Board of Appeals. The Planning Commission proper is responsible for the review of site plans for compliance with health, safety, and welfare standards, zone changes and text changes, and general planning recommendations including those related to the City Master Plan. The Board of Zoning Appeals hears variance requests and appeals of decisions of the Administration. The Building Code Board of Appeals hears appeals from the Chief Building Official’s interpretation of the Residential Building Code of the State of Ohio.
Combining these duties in 1 board enables the city to expedite the site plan review and appeals process, and better serve the needs of Solon residents and businesses.
