Non-Residential Site Plan Review Process

Welcome to the City of Solon approval process. This guide is to help you understand both the application and approval process for land uses within the City. Currently we have 3 approval bodies that you may need to get approval from before your project starts. It is the goal of the City to work with you throughout the process. If at any time you have questions please feel free to call the Planning Department at 440-349-6327. Remember that the staff is here to assist you in every step of the process.

  • City Council

Meeting Times


All meetings are held in the Council Chambers at the Solon City Hall.

At least 1 meeting will be required with the Director of Planning and Community Development and other staff and consultants as needed. Call the Department of Planning at (440) 349-6327 for more information.

Planning Commission meets on the Tuesday following the second and fourth Monday of each month (alternate weeks from City Council) at 7:30 p.m.

City Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Prior to each meeting there will be a caucus, to review and comment on the agenda, where both the applicant and the public are welcome. The caucus begins at 7 p.m.

Deadline Dates


Planning Commission applications are due by 12 p.m. on the Monday 2 weeks prior to the meeting.

If a City observed holiday falls on the deadline date, the date will be moved up to the last business day before the holiday.
