Water Exercise


Water Exercise provides very similar benefits as land-based resistance exercise classes: you can improve cardiovascular health, increase strength and ultimately improve functional ability. Dry land resistance training requires equipment such as free weights, bands or tubing; in the water, the water is nature’s tool. Water is around 12 times more resistant than air; it has a stabilizing effect that is helpful in strengthening truck and postural muscles to improve balance and has minimal weight bearing for the participant. Please try out 1 or more of the classes that Solon Recreation offers. Come ready to have fun and meet some great people.


WATERCISE with Instructor Lynn Dula

This class focuses on participants moving, stretching and working their joints and muscles. The classes are conveniently held 5 times a week in the lanes and river area. As a bonus on Thursday students will be treated to a breakfast goodie and coffee.

WATER JOGGING with Instructor Paula McArthur

Water Jogging is a fantastic cardio fitness class that works your stamina and overall fitness. The current of the lazy river intensifies the workout as you move both with and against it. While mainly held in the river this energetic class has been known to mix up the workout by using a variety of areas that sometimes include the zero depth, the drop zone and the lanes area.

SILVER SPLASHES with Instructor Paula McArthur

The Silver Splashes class is offered only to members of the Silver Sneakers Program. The class will focus on strengthening your muscles and improving your range of motion. It is taught in the lanes area and is held 3 times a week.

When Solon schools are closed these classes are cancelled.


Community Center members may pay a drop in fee of $5 for each class or purchase a class pass and pay only $3 per class. Solon resident non-member pays $5 plus a daily drop in fee for each class. Call the Solon Community Center for more information at (440) 248-5747.
